Key Updates & Features Worth Noting From Last Year
- Engine: 999cc DOHC, 8-valve parallel-twin engine paired with Yamaha’s Ultramatic V-belt transmission featuring all-wheel engine braking and a 10-Year Belt Warranty.
- On-Command 4WD System: Rapid front-differential engagement/disengagement, plus Turf Mode with unlocking rear differential for sensitive terrain and tighter maneuvering.
- Electric Power Steering (EPS): High-output EPS with updated 4WD Diff-Lock map and selectable High, Standard, and Low steering modes on XT-R, Sport, and Limited trims.
- Yamaha D-Mode Drive Control: Three maps—Crawl, Trail, and Sport; standard on Sport, XT-R, and Limited, prewired on R-Spec.

Read more »Yamaha introduced the 2023 Yamaha Wolverine RMAX2 1000, RMAX4 1000, X2, and X4 models. What might be new in the lineup for 2023 you might ask? Not to spoil it but other than new colors (and graphics) there is absolutely nothing new (at this point) in the 2023 Yamaha Wolverine lineup compared to the 2022 Wolverine lineup. That is not to say there isn’t anything good in the lineup because there is a lot of great things we love about the Yamaha Wolverines. Below is what you need to know.

Read more »Yamaha released its 2022 models this week with a brand new "model" of RMAX2 1000 making its debut. That would be the 2022 Yamaha RMAX2 1000 Sport. Like so many side-by-side manufacturers, Yamaha is now building purpose-specific editions of it's product lines where in this case the RMAX2 1000 Sport is equipped for a more "sporty" look and capability. Now you want to know the nitty-gritty of what makes the Wolverine RMAX2 1000 Sport unique. Here is the list:
- Dual spring FOX 2.0 shocks with 24-clicks full high-speed and low-speed compression adjustability along with preload adjustment. In addition there is more bottoming-out resistance on the Sport model.
- Beadlock wheels with Yamaha blue accents
- 30-Inch GBC Terra Master tires that were developed for the RMAX. They offer an asymmetrical design with two different tread patterns configuration options. One soft side or you can flip the tire for hard terrain. They are also 10-ply rated.
- Don't forget the sport systling unique to the Sport model.
All of these things are in addition to all the goodies that come on a Wolverine RMAX. Think D-Modes (big fan), 999cc engine, big 14.2 and 16.9-inches of front and rear travel respectively, automotive-level interior with comfy high-back seats. Read more »Well this is some BIG news coming out of the Yamaha camp on a Thursday, and we at ATV ESCAPE are stoked on this vehicle. We have wanted this side-by-side out of Yamaha for several years. Say hello to the new Wolverine RMAX 1000 and RMAX4 1000 side-by-sides, and, not to spoil it, but yes it comes with a new 999cc engine putting 108 horsepower

Read more »We remember the first time we saw the Wolverine X4 shortly before it’s release in 2018. Yamaha had made giant strides in comfort and capability just two years after the release of the first Wolverine side-by-side. Then, we saw the Wolverine X2 come out in 2019 mirroring the Wolverine X4 only built for two. Now in 2021 Yamaha has already made improvements to both the Wolverine X2 & X4 taking these side-by-sides from being really good to truly great.
From the first time we laid eyes on the Wolverine X4 and subsequently the Wolverine X2, we have quietly yearned for a couple of subtle yet important changes which would check a couple of remaining boxes making them one of our first choices in their side-by-side segments. Not only has that happened in the 2021 model year, but Yamaha threw in a couple of other improvements to boot. We are thrilled! Let’s run through the changes on the Wolverine X2 and X4 for model year 2021.
Two Biggest Issues Fixed
Door Opening- One of the biggest issues for us on the Wolverine models from the very first time we climbed aboard, was the door latch location. The door latch plate stuck out in such a way that anyone larger than the width of runway model hit it when climbing into and out of the vehicle. Combined withe the shoulder bolster dimensions, it was not exactly easy to get into the Wolverine. That problem has been solved for 2021! Yamaha has moved the door latch back several inches, and redesigned the shoulder bolster allowing for much more room to enter and exit the vehicle. Its third-annual XT-Reme Terrain Challenge (XT-R Challenge) for Yamaha YXZ, Wolverine, and Grizzly owners, friends, and families. The three-day event will be held October 2-4 at the famous Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.
