What is crystal clear is that Polaris has done their homework on what customers want in the RZR XP 1000 segment, and that they did the work to integrate these wants into the redesign of the XP 1000 side-by-side. Firstly, Polaris focused on improving durability in a major way by strengthening all the components of the vehicle including the driveline, chassis, transmission, suspension, and other parts to make it more durable and robust not only more than its predecessor but along with (according to Polaris) all other vehicles in the sport segment. Polaris then did the testing to feel comfortable making the statement (which is a bold statement). Polaris also focused on the cab sealing in addition to tightness of the build to eliminate irritating rattles. Nothing is more irritating than a side-by-side breaking down on the trail or having to listen to constant squeaks and rattles while trying to enjoy the outdoors.
Much was done to improve interior comfort. Though the height of the vehicle is almost the same, the front seats’ sitting position and driving position has been lowered for a sporty and more connected fee with additional leg room. The seats have been lowered by an inch and moved backward in the cab 1.5 inches. In addition the seat now has a total adjustment range forward and backward of a class leading six inches. Despite the driving position being lowered the front hood angle has changed to make forward sightlines better. The steering wheel has been reduced a bit, all of which combine to allow for more room for the driver. The rear seats in the RZR XP 4 1000 have been raised for better visibility for the rear passenger. Interior cargo space has been redesigned to allow from plenty of room to carry more “stuff” than ever.
Finally changes were made to the “details” of the RZR XP 1000 to make owning it and using it more enjoyable. It comes with a front bumper and front tow loop (other manufacturers take note) to make trailering all that much easier. The maintenance interval is twice as long as it was before keeping both time and expense of ownership down. Steps were also taken to make getting to common maintenance points such as the top of the engine to make oil changes much easier. In fact removing the rear cargo bin can be done with no tools at all. Polaris has worked hard to make owning the redesigned RZR XP 1000 family better than ever.
What We Really Think
Not very long ago we had the opportunity to jump behind the wheel of a new RZR XP 1000 for a couple of hours. Memories came flooding back to driving it for the first time thinking what an excellent side-by-side Polaris had released into the wild. Even today compared to other vehicles in the sport segment, the 2023 RZR XP 1000 effortlessly holds its own with those vehicles. What a fun side-by-side to drive even today with the chassis being so very good. Though we should have seen a complete redesign coming…we didn’t. After listening to Polaris walk the media through the details of this completely new 2024 RZR XP 1000 we are pretty excited about it. This redesign has a lot to live up to, but what gets our juices flowing is how quality and durability were a key pillar in the redesign. A price point of $20,999 is a big win for those wanting to get into the sport. This new RZR XP 1000 should be a great side-by-side and we can’t wait to get some time behind the wheel.
