Adventure Guide- Brimstone Recreation & Windrock Park, TN
Tennessee is home to some outstanding places to ride (and music of course), but it is not very close to many of us! Making the long drive to that part of the country must be rewarded with a bunch of trail-miles. The good news is, with a little planning, that is exactly what you will get. Brimstone Recreation and WindRock Park are a mere 48 measly miles apart, and, combined, they offer 92,000 acres and 600 miles of trails. That makes for a large area to explore—large enough to require more than one vacation. If time is short, you can fly into Knoxville, TN and rent ATVs and side-by-sides to ride either one of these parks. It is good to have options!
The drive from Brimstone Recreation to Windrock Park takes right at an hour.
We have written about Brimstone several times, and for good reason. Brimstone Recreation has almost 20,000 acres worth of space dedicated to over 300 miles of trails. This makes plenty of room for those who want to experience Brimstone while traveling from long distances. You can ride here for several days while still exploring new territory. There are trails are for all skill levels, and these include vast changes in elevations for some incredible views of the Appalachian Mountains. You can easily ride for days and never take the same trail if you so choose. This is a beautiful place to explore.
There is a campground and RV facility on site along with several cabins that can be rented. You can also rent ATVs and side-by-sides in the event you don't want to tow your own vehicles or you don't have one. Though there are not many places to stay in Huntsville, where Brimstone is located, there are plenty of services available within 20 miles of Huntsville. Sooner or later, Brimstone should be on your list to spend a few days exploring because you will not be disappointed. If you want to plan a trip around an event, Brimstone has both the White Knuckle event in May and Brimstone Paragon in September. These are big events with music, games, give-aways, vendors, and plenty of things to do. To plan your trip just click on the Brimstone Recreation website below.
With 72,000 acres to explore, it is not hard to imagine Windrock Park being the largest privately owned riding park in the country. This place is massive, offering all levels of difficulty in its 300 miles of trails. Riding here makes you feel like you are out in the middle of nowhere, which is a fantastic feeling. The scenery is excellent with incredible views to be had by all who ride here, including overlooks and waterfalls which make cameras come alive. There is a campground, RV park, and general store onsite as well as side-by-side rentals, meaning you are in good hands no matter what you are looking for. Windrock Park has several events a year which include music, vendors, games, giveaways, and demo rides. In addition, there are places to stay in the area if that is what you are looking for. Windrock Park is a destination in and of itself with days of riding to be had.
There are handful of places around the U.S. that make for a great full-fledge vacation/adventure spots when you have to travel a long way to expereince them. Brimstone Recreation and Windrock Park both warrant the trip, but their proximity to each other make taking the trip a "no brainer" worth the mileage. Both are open 365 days a year, and have all that you need to support your adventure in the area if not on site. So load up, get in that truck or RV, and head to Tennessee to experience all that part of the Country has to offer aboard your ATV or side-by-side.
