2027 Kawasaki Teryx KRX 1000 TR & KRX4 1000 TR: Built for Tighter Trails

For 2027, Kawasaki is expanding the Teryx KRX 1000 family with two new models aimed specifically at riders who spend their time on tighter wooded trails. The new Teryx KRX 1000 TR and four-seat Teryx KRX4 1000 TR take the proven KRX platform and narrow it down to a trail-friendly 63.8 inches wide.

We have always liked the KRX 1000 for its comfortable suspension, roomy cockpit and ability to soak up rough terrain. The problem is that its 68.1-inch width isn't ideal for every riding area. Kawasaki has addressed that with the TR models while trying to retain the characteristics that make the regular KRX so good on the trail.

And importantly, Kawasaki didn't simply install narrower wheels and call it a day. The suspension geometry, control arms, bodywork and suspension tuning have all been changed to create machines specifically designed for tighter wooded trails.

What You Want To Know

The new KRX 1000 TR and KRX4 1000 TR are 63.8 inches wide, making them suitable for 64-inch trails.
Both have 17 inches of front and 18 inches of rear suspension travel with trail-tuned Showa 2.5 piggyback shocks.
The TR models run 31-inch Maxxis Carnivore tires on 15-inch aluminum wheels.
Power comes from Kawasaki's 999cc parallel-twin engine with a CVT and centrifugal clutch.
Importantly for trail riding, the KRX TR models have downhill engine braking to provide additional control on descents.

What Makes the KRX TR Different?

For 2026, Honda has given its flagship Pioneer 1000 lineup one of its biggest updates yet. The redesigned lineup includes the three-seat Pioneer 1000 Deluxe, five-seat Pioneer 1000-5 Deluxe and the all-new Pioneer 1000 Elite.

The Pioneer 1000 has always been a little different from most utility side-by-sides thanks to its six-speed Dual Clutch Transmission instead of the belt-driven CVT found in most UTVs. For 2026, Honda keeps that formula but adds more technology, comfort and refinement across the lineup.

The biggest updates include throttle-by-wire technology, selectable drive modes, cruise control and a variable speed limiter. Honda has also worked to reduce cockpit heat and noise, improve storage and make routine maintenance easier.

The biggest news, however, is the arrival of the Pioneer 1000 Elite. It becomes Honda’s first side-by-side with a fully enclosed, factory-installed cab and integrated heating and air conditioning system.
